With its sharply raked mast and its distinctive hull shape, the Skipjack used to be a familiar sight in the late 19th Century in Long Island Sound and the Chesapeake Bay. Sailing out to harvest the extensive oyster beds or just going fishing they had a repuatation for being fast and reliable under all types of weather.
