Where found: Tarpon are primarily inshore fish, although adult fish spawn Offshore. Good numbers of smaller fish can be found in back waters and canals.
Remarks: Tarpon are slow growers and matures at 7 to 13 years of age. Can tolerate wide range of salinity and juveniles commonly found in fresh water. They can breath air at the surface and feeds mainly on fish and large crustaceans.
Fishing: Live bait fishing is the most common fishing method. A wide range of live baits from Mullet, Pinfish, Shrimp, and crabs are just some of the favorites. Both baits and tackle depend on the size fish you are targeting.
