|Barracudas have a projecting lower jaw with several large, sharp-edged teeth and an elongate body with two widely separated dorsal fins. The Great Barracuda inhabits both inshore reef waters and near-surface waters of the open sea. Juveniles may be found in turbid bays and estuarine waters; adults move out to clear, more exposed habitats, and may be found hundreds of miles from the nearest land. This species is generally solitary and feeds primarily on fishes, sometimes biting them into two or more pieces if they are relatively large. It is quite curious and may approach a diver closely.
